Book Launch and Art Show

This weekend I launched my book along with an art show at Clamp Light Studios and Gallery in San Antonio, TX. Besides being an author and illustrator, I am also a painter. When I knew that this book was definitely going to be coming into this world, I planned in my mind that I would launch it with an art show.

Writing the book was fun but illustrating it was even more fun. And then taking those illustrations and turning them into giant paintings was even better if you can imagine that. It was hard work but it was so rewarding to see them come to life on a grand scale.

For the launch I made 17 framed digital posters of the characters and the food in the book plus 6 very large large acrylic paintings on canvas. There was a table filled with pirate themed goodies for the kids, a face painter, and a coloring stations with pirate coloring sheets for the kids.

I read the book to the kids twice during the event. They were enraptured with their pirate painted faces and they listened intently as I read the book. It was a great moment. I almost cried.

My friends and my community came out and supported me and I am forever grateful to them.
